Application tips

How to apply at ISS?

The only way to apply at ISS is via our online job portal https://jobs.issworld.at. Special software will analyse your CV to facilitate the entry of your personal data.
You may apply either for specific advertised vacancies or simply send us an unsolicited application.

What do we expect to see in your application?

We would like your application documentation to reflect as authentic a picture of you as possible. This is why your application should reflect your personality as best possible.

What documentation should your application include?

• Motivational letter
• Curriculum Vitae
• Photo (please upload separately)
• Certificates
• Recommendations

Applications of learners, high-school graduates, students and graduates can be completed by enclosing certificates (e.g. annual report, graduation certificate, transcript of records, degree certificate).
For applications of professionally experienced candidates we advise to enclose recommendations.

Concrete tips for applications:

Be aware of the following: Application documentation is sales documentation. You would want to introduce yourself to your potential new employer showing your best side. It will therefore be vital to present a professional image and, in particular, to stand out among the competition. Take your time drafting the application and take note of the following tips:

Motivational letter: Of importance: Be brief and to the point. The “motivational letter” takes its name from the need to tell the future employer why you are applying for the specific advertised position. Concentrate on this and be brief. Your past career will in any event be covered by your CV.

Curriculum Vitae: Your CV is at the core of your application. Ensure that it is clearly structured to offer the recruiter a quick and optimal impression of you as a person. It is important under “Occupational Experience” to list the tasks you performed, in what position, for which company and for how long. Preferably state times to the nearest month.

Photograph: Again here, avail yourself of the opportunity of presenting yourself in the best possible light. The appearance of a person is not the primary criterion, but rather whether the applicant went to the trouble of obtaining a professional photograph of himself/herself. A photographer will not always be necessary, but avoid photographs taken during leisure time activities.

Social media profile: To avoid inadvertently disclosing your personal details on the Web, simply check your data in the Internet. You may use the platform www.123people.at and Google for this purpose.

No-Go – definitely avoid this!

Grammar and spelling errors – make use of the correction options of your program
Wrong contact person in the address
Wrong job description – check this against the job offer again
Photograph of yourself during leisure activities
Unprofessional e-mail address – avoid fancy and pet names

Tips for the application interview:

Punctuality: 5 to 10 minutes before appointment time
• Have all your application documentation on you.
• Prepare you questions about job and company in writing.
• Your conduct should suit the occasion.
• Switch off your mobile phone. Even in vibration mode it may prove irritating – especially to you yourself.
