Monika Hofer - Recruiter

In parallel with my Business administration studies with a specialisation in Personnel Management at the KF University in Graz, I have held a position as a recruiter at ISS in Graz since November 2010. I am supporting the HR team in Graz in the Recruiting and Staff development sectors on four mornings per week. With part-time work amounting to 20 h per week and flexible working times, ISS offers me the opportunity of combining my studies and working in my profession, thereby “putting the theory into practice”.
My main responsibilities in the field of recruiting include applicant management, interviewing applicants and the registration of staff (checking relevant documentation, drafting work contracts, etc.). In the field of staff development, my main responsibilities include drafting of plans for initial training (employees) and the organisation of courses (external/internal). Apart from the above responsibilities, I also create presentations and support the Graz team with various HR projects.
No one working day is like another. In this sense, there will therefore be no typical workday. This is what makes this job so exciting. Every day will introduce different personalities, contribute to your know-how and present solutions to your challenges. Thanks to ISS, the combination of “studying and working” is very easy to realise and I would not hesitate to go this route again in the future.

Ismeta Kurtagic - Service Manager

Working as a Service Manager is an exceptionally multi-faceted occupation. Conventional working days do not exist, since this job means that you will often need to attend to the needs of colleagues and clients in an unplanned manner.
Each morning, my working day starts in the office, attending to administrative matters. This includes, among other things, drafting offers, sending out orders, registering staff and handling e-mails. Thereafter, I visit my clients and, in the course of this, check that our colleagues are happy in the work they are doing. One of my priorities during these visits always entails enquiring about suggestions and requests that clients and colleagues may have. I utilise my time sitting in the car discussing the coordination of work with our supervisors and other staff. Allow me to also mention that, as a Service Manager, I do not schedule more than 60% of my working hours, since the remaining 40% must remain open to accommodate our clients, allowing me the flexibility to attend to their needs amidst my often highly variable daily programme. This independence of working and organising my daily schedule is one of the things I appreciate about my work. There are also days with plenty of stress, of course, but I find that closing such days on a successful note tends to be particularly gratifying.

Manda Topic - Cleaner

As a cleaner at ISS, I am the genial background spirit. At the Vienna branch, I am responsible not only for the regular daily maintenance cleaning and hygiene of the sanitary facilities, but also for replenishing coffee machines and beverage refrigerators. The management of cleaning chemicals and re-ordering also falls within my area of responsibility. The overall perspective is particularly important here. I will furthermore ensure that all the office pot plants get the care they need. My tasks also include “Operational Hospitality Services” in the meeting rooms. I am also responsible for ensuring that fruit, bread rolls and beverages are available as required. I am particularly proud of my role as the spokesperson for the cleaning team. I need to work in close cooperation with my colleagues in my occupation and also be fully familiar with every aspect of the work. I appreciate the good cooperation in our team, especially our mutual assistance and support.
No working day is like the other – this is what makes my work especially exciting. I enjoy the variety of my tasks and really appreciate the diversity of this job! Carrying out all our work with care and on time will ensure that the colleagues are feeling satisfied and at ease – this is of particular importance to me.

Mag. Michael Pfeifhofer - Controller

In my position as Controller I, on the one hand, support the operational departments of ISS Austria in their monthly reporting and planning and, on the other, also prepare the required reports to our corporate headquarters in Denmark.
We also compile monthly “Quick Reports” in cooperation with our regions. Controlling of the results is followed by the actual monthly statements to IFRS guidelines, with the Controlling Department assuming a coordinating and supporting role. I also make standard reporting templates available, continuously adapted to suit the requirements of our regional managers and furthermore developed on an ongoing basis to reflect the requirements of Management. In addition to monthly reporting, the annual budget is revised bi-annually within the framework of the so-called Estimate Process, to ensure that current developments are taken into account. The challenge to me in this respect is to optimally support my colleagues and to also analyse the results and obtain an overview of the status for all of Austria.
My daily work is highly diverse and especially the close cooperation with my colleagues in the regional branches renders my tasks quite exciting. This allows me direct participation in the many fields of work of our corporation and to discover the background to the figures I am handling. The international demands faced by the corporation will also broaden the scope of my activities, offering me insights into strategic backgrounds and necessities.

Sanela Zejnoska - Receptionist

Working as a receptionist is a highly diverse job entailing continuous contact with people. I consider myself a calling card for the corporation since I and my colleagues are the first contact everyone has with the company – whether client, staff member or applicant. Although this will predominantly be via telephone, I also look forward to the many personal encounters. I forward calls, sometimes in English, to the desired contact person or send a request to return the call to that person. When visitors arrive, I assist them in registering and issuing their visitor’s cards.
Apart from the traditional secretarial tasks (handling of post, scheduling, assisting guests, filing and document management), the organisation of a smooth daily schedule is particularly important. Absolute discretion and thoroughness is paramount when handling incoming and outgoing mail. Thereafter, I prepare fruit baskets for our staff members and manage our in-house seminar venues. My monthly responsibilities include, among other things, issuing parking tickets and settling them on a monthly basis, organising the in-house parking garage and administering or ordering staff catering. I define priorities and represent ISS interests with skill, cordiality and thoroughness. In situations of stress, it is also important to act independently and with confidence and to never lose one’s cool. The reception team provides mutual support and will always appreciate positive feedback.
