Code of Conduct

The ISS Code of Conduct clearly states several important principles applicable to all ISS operations and defining the conduct of all ISS staff. The principles refer to

  • the conduct of staff

  • corruption and bribery

  • rules of competition

  • company relations with clients and suppliers

  • workplace standards at ISS

  • ISS corporate responsibility

The Code augments ISS corporate strategies, regulations and guidelines and is a component of conditions of employment at ISS.

 

  • The employees shall obey the laws.
  • The ISS corporation expects its employees to uphold its corporate values: honesty, quality, entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of responsibility.
  • In areas where no legal provisions or regulations prescribe personal conduct, each member of staff shall act with reasonable discretion and diligence.
  • In cases of doubt, employees shall request guidance by a superior or other responsible member of staff.
  • Clients, colleagues and other persons shall be treated with respect and fairness.
  • Mobbing and sexual harassment shall not be tolerated at ISS.
  • The company expects its employees never to carry out their work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • ISS is against any form of corruption and bribery and is committed to combating such practices.
  • ISS will face its competitors in business under fair conditions and exclusively on the basis of the quality of its services.
  • Irrespective of local custom, private payments, backhanders or bribes between ISS and clients, suppliers or government officials shall be strictly prohibited.
  • No gifts or other benefits offered by business partners shall be accepted – unless modest and of common local practice.
  • Compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing competition is a central facet of ISS business practice.
  • ISS will not enter into any price fixing or conclude agreements with competitors in respect of division of services, sales quotas or markets.
  • ISS will not submit rigged bids or exchange information about tenders with its competitors.
  • ISS will not discuss competition-related issues (e.g. pricing, discount policy, fees, conditions of sale etc.) with its competitors.
  • The ISS corporation will communicate its Code of Conduct to its suppliers and clients via suitable channels and request that they uphold these principles under all pertinent circumstances.
  • ISS corporation performance shall comply with agreed standards in terms of quality, health and safety at the client’s premises.
  • The clients’ private sphere will be respected and relevant data will be protected.
  • Complaints will be processed effectively; they are deemed a valuable contribution to the assurance of consistently high levels of service.
  • ISS will evaluate the procurement of products and services based on the following criteria: quality, economy, ethics, environment and staff.
  • ISS assures its staff of suitable working conditions, including appropriate standards of health and safety.
  • ISS will not tolerate any form of discrimination towards employees; all employees have a right to fair and equal treatment.
  • ISS respects the freedom of assembly and the right to collective bargaining; all employees have the right to join a trade union and to set up works councils.
  • ISS rejects any form of forced labour.
  • ISS, in agreement with international conventions, will not practice child labour.
  • ISS will offer reasonable wages which will at the least meet local agreements and provisions.
  • ISS supports the implementation and retention of minimum wages.
  • The employees will receive offers of training commensurate with their specific responsibilities.
  • ISS will respect the personal privacy of its employees and will correspondingly ensure the protection of their data.
  • ISS respects the UN Declaration on Human Rights.
  • ISS will apply the principles of good corporate governance.
  • ISS accepts the obligation to constantly reduce any negative impacts of their corporate activities on the environment.
  • ISS is a member of the UN Global Compact and abides by the nine principles of this programme.
  • ISS will act as a good corporate citizen in all companies in which the Group is active.
  • ISS social, ecological and ethical principles will be reflected in all contacts with clients, staff, suppliers and other affected parties.
